New Masgid Project
salaam Everyone,
The New Masgid project should be beneficial for all Muslims of Albuquerque. The masgid should be a non-partisan environment and place of worship and peace. The motto of the masgid should be "Unity through Diversity". The new project is coming along but still has some obstacle's to overcome in my opinion. It has some financial and planning needs.
Before all the pieces are put together without your opinion let us take the responsibility and obligation to discuss with the board what is important to us in the new masgid. Some of the areas that we can focus on are:
1. The new Imam and what qualifications might we want him to have?
Does he need to be from a particular area in the world
Should he speak other languages, i.e., English
What kind of availability can we request of him, i.e., available office hrs.
Does he have a vote in financial matters? What are his areas of
responsibility
2. What request do the sisters have for their section?
Should they have audio/visual that is better suited for Juma
What kind of Islamic classes and how often should the masgid provide for them
How can more sisters be encouraged to attend Juma and what are the main
complaints for the sisters that don't attend.
3. How can the youth be more empowered to attend and assist with future decisions and goals for the masgid.
Does the youth feel involved and listened too.
4. What happened to the relationship with the ICNM
and MSA,ASNM and American Muslim Converts...)
These are some of areas that I recently thought about that we might discuss. What are the thoughts of the community in these areas and what other areas can we plan to discuss for the future of the Umah in Albuquerque.
Peace be Upon you all.
