Eid/Islam
Salaam Everyone, just a reminder that the Eid Party will be this upcoming Sunday November 13th, 2005 at the German Club.
What does everyone think about Muslim holidays getting recognized in Public schools and Universities. In Oregon, when a Muslim family requested to get Eid recognized; the school canceled all religious holidays(i.e., Good Friday, Yam Kapour...) When the parents emailed the school board and the superintendent to complain they reinstated the other holidays yet left out the Muslim one's.
What would be the best way for Muslims to deal with this type of treatment? Without being confrontational or rude we should have a better way to deal with this type of situation/s?
In Albuquerque, I am going to write an official letter from the Afghan society of New Mexico regarding our holidays being recognized. I will sign and provide this letter to any student that is interested in having those days off. Your school or teacher may or may not accept this letter...However, when we are an Umah and not one family or one person then it's harder to say NO to. We missed the boat this eid, but by next Eid I will have the letter done, InshAllah!
